VOICEOVER for MEDICAL NARRATION
MEDICAL MUMBO JUMBO
You’ve heard or seen them, right? Commercials for medicines or medical treatments that are full of complicated, multi-syllabic words that are tough to pronounce. Unless you’ve had medical training, it’s likely that you don’t understand much of what’s being discussed in these commercials. Yet, you stay concentrated on the content because of the expertly crafted graphics and the skill of the narrator delivering the lines.
Your attention is grasped and kept because you’re taking part in a well-told story. Sometimes it’s a 30 second commercial. Other times it’s a lengthy educational program. Whichever it is, it has storytelling at its heart. A well-told story will draw you in and keep your interests piqued. A well-told story will keep you focused. A well-told story will leave you with something memorable after the story is told.
In medical narration, the audience may be composed of professionals who are already familiar with the terminology. However, there may be times when the audience is comprised of the public who have had no prior medical training. Therefore, the voice actor must have as part of his skillset the ability to deliver this complicated terminology in a way that appeals to both audiences.
While there are voice actors who are great storytellers, not all can combine their storytelling expertise with challenging medical language. I do this type of work on a regular basis and welcome the opportunity to show you how I can deliver the goods.
